Analysis: New Trier administrators rank second in state for average pay

Administrators in New Trier Township High School District 203 earn an average of $181,194 per year, ranking second out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 2.9 percent higher than in 2016 and 19.8 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 62.8 percent more than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The New Trier School District in Cook County enrolled 4040 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 235 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
