Report: Wheeling School District spent $17,018 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Wheeling Community Consolidated School District 21 was up 2.7 percent from five years ago, according to the North Cook News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Cook County school district spent $16,571 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $17,018 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 6,736 to 6,123 students over the same period.

Wheeling's spending in 2019-20 was 17.4 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
