City of Evanston issued the following announcement on May 3.
Evanston businesses that take actions to reduce their environmental impact can receive support from the City and recognition for their efforts as part of a revamped sustainable business recognition program, Sustain Evanston.
Sustain Evanston aims to encourage local businesses to make sustainability improvements, like installing energy efficient lighting or implementing a composting program, while helping the City meet the ambitious goals outlined in its Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP). Recognized business types for the 2021 program include office/retail, restaurant, healthcare, landscaping, and beauty/wellness/spa.
Businesses that complete the program will receive a Sustain Evanston storefront decal recognizing them as a sustainable business, a $350 cash incentive to help offset costs associated with meeting the program requirements, and a communications toolkit to highlight their sustainable achievements.
Participation Information
Businesses interested in participating in the Sustain Evanston program must complete ten sustainable actions and submit documentation by Sunday, July 11. Business type-specific checklists, resources and documentation submission can be found at SustainEvanston.com. Local businesses can also request a free walkthrough by City staff to recommend potential improvements.
