The United4Northbrook Coalition is vowing to continue working for the community despite coming up short in the slate’s run for power in Northbrook.
“We would like to thank everyone in Northbrook for participating in this election,” the group posted on Facebook. “The voters have spoken and while we are disappointed we accept the decisions of the voters. We will always be your advocate at Village Hall.”
The United4Northbrook slate was led by former village president Gene Marks, who was seeking to reclaim his old seat. Three other United candidates were also on the ballot for trustee.
In the final days of the campaign, Northfield Township Committeeman T.J. Brown signaled he felt Marks and company faced an uphill battle.
“He’s got a slate of three running for trustee,” Brown told the North Cook News. “They have a few issues and one is the affordable housing ordinance passed a couple months ago requiring 15% of all new developments to have affordable housing.”
With all the votes counted, United4Northbrook said it's well past time that the needs of the community come before everything else.
“This battle was tough and we congratulate the Northbrook Caucus," United4Northbrook added in its Facebook post. “We hope that we can come together for the better of all of Northbrook and look forward to the necessary steps for unity. To Ciesla, Collison, Pepoon and Ebhomielen, we say congratulations and godspeed. We hope you are successful in leading our village because your success will be the success of all of Northrook.”
The Northbrook Caucus team was composed of incumbents Kathryn Ciesla, Muriel Collison and Dan Pepoon and Joy Ebhomielen.
