Linda Coyle wonders why what’s good enough for many private and public schools across the country isn’t good enough for all Chicago schools.

Coyle is running for another term on the Maine Township High School District 207 board.

“Private and public schools are operating full-time safely all around the country and in the Chicago area,” Coyle said in a Facebook post. “The CDC supports the idea that in-person learning can be done safely with the right precautions."

One of five candidates vying for four seats, Coyle was the only member of the school board who voted against the district’s proposal to conduct all-remote classes as a way of combating the spread of COVID-19 at the start of the school year. Instead, she urged school board members to follow the steps taken by other schools that have resumed full-time in-person learning without much incident.

Currently, Maine Township high school students have only the options of hybrid learning, which combines in-person and remote learning each week, or all-remote learning.

Presently serving as litigation counsel at CN Railroad, Coyle was first elected to the Maine South 207 Board in 2017 after having been a member of the Maine South School District 207 Advisory Council for three years.

Coyle also previously served as commissioner of the City of Park Ridge Planning & Zoning Commission, a past member of the Park Ridge Police Chief's Advisory Board and treasurer of the Park Ridge Community Women.
