PUBLIC COMMENT

Chairman Abbate invited the public to comment. Hearing none, the Committee proceeded with the scheduled agenda.

OLD BUSINESS: Chief Roman gave the Committee a personnel update stating that the police exam was completed on Saturday the 17. A total of 15 applicants out of 20 took the test. The next step would be to review the scores and do the oral interviews for those who passed. Chief Roman then went on to say that Officer Andy Wieteska is nearly done with training and will be doing his check in ride next with Sgt. Puralewski. Mayor McCombie asked about additional training should a female officer be hired, to help make her more successful in the job to which Deputy Chief Parma stated that there is no special training for just women, because police field training is not gender specific, but he suggested that we could look into other police departments and see if they have a female Field Training Officer that our FTO's could have some discussions with to get ideas from. Chief Roman stated that in regards to the request for signs at Spring Creek Drive and North Meadow Court, the signs are up. Cuba Township installed them faster than originally thought.

NEW BUSINESS: Chief Roman discussed with Willow Creek Church about having them be a PADS location for the winter, to which it looks like PADS will not happen there this year. We will continue to look into options. Chief Roman also discussed assigning a Homeless Liaison Officer to advocate for them.

Deputy Chief Parma discussed and presented the option for electronic flares. These are to replace the current one-time-use road flares. It will save on money and clean up. One rechargeable set costs about the same as two and half cases of the current flares and can be used with traffic cones. It was discussed and Chief asked if we could purchase 4 sets now at $1,600.00 and then 4 sets in next year's budget. Chairman Abbate asked for a motion to bring this purchase to the board. Trustee Guranovich made the motion to bring the purchase of the rechargeable flares to the board. Seconded by Trustee Alvarado. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Roll Call: Chairman Abbate, Trustee Guranovich and Trustee Alvarado,

OTHER BUSINESS: Trustee Guranovich asked about the Chicago arrest we assisted with where the individual was found with weapons, and Chief briefly discussed that it being a Chicago arrest, we have little information on what happened later. Gun laws were also spoken about.
