1. Consider an Ordinance Granting a Variation to Permit a Fence at 90 E. Benton Court - Motion Carried by Voice Vote (Council District: Two)
Planning & Zoning Director Ben Vyverberg presented the Petitioner's request for a variation to replace an existing 6-foot fence with an 8-foot fence along their rear shared property line, adjacent to The Donkey Inn, to reduce noise and light. A 2019 Code text amendment allows up to 8 foot fences on commercial properties, adjacent to residential properties. The ZBA voted unanimously to approve and Staff concurs.

2. Consider an Ordinance Granting a Variation to Permit a Detached Garage at 249 N. Plum Grove Road - Motion Carried by Voice Vote (Council District: Six)
Planning & Zoning Director Ben Vyverberg presented the Petitioner's request for a Variation to construct an addition onto the rear of their single-family home and replace the existing, non-conforming detached garage to be set back 3 feet from the side lot line (currently roughly 4 feet), instead of the minimum required 5 feet; and a Variation to permit an accessory structure to be setback 9 feet from the principal structure, instead of the minimum required 10 feet. The ZBA voted unanimously to approve. Staff recommends action at the Village Council’s discretion.
In response to Councilman Millar, Vyverberg clarified the setback is to the foundation, not the eave overhang.

1. Consider a Motion Concurring with the Village Manager's Acquisitions and Purchases Through the COVID-19 Grant -
Village Manager Reid Ottesen reported that the Village was awarded grant funding through the CARES Act for among other things modifications to existing Village Hall, Combined Service Facility (CSF), and Police Headquarters work areas to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Work space modifications had a total approved grant budget of $227,013. Contracts in place currently total $187,342, with the electrical adjustments in the Council Chambers recently under contract for $1,910.
Mayor Schwantz stressed that Palatine received a total of $540,000 from the County, although $2.8 million was designated for Palatine.
