ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 55: Moylan Encourages Business Owners to Contact Small Business Development Centers

55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on Oct. 30

In response to the economic strain put on business owners by COVID-19, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is encouraging all small business owners in need of assistance to reach out to a small business development center (SBDC) in order to learn about the resources available to them.

“Small businesses have been struggling throughout the COVID-19 crisis and are in serious need of economic assistance, and we have to provide what they need in order for many of them to survive this pandemic,” Moylan said. “Small business owners should contact a SBDC as soon as possible to learn about the economic resources they are eligible for and to receive help securing funding to support their business.”

There are currently 42 SBDCs located throughout Illinois that serve as community centers to provide information, training, business guidance and other resources to new and existing small businesses. SBDCs also provide business owners with information on the state and federal COVID-19 emergency relief programs for which they are eligible and offer assistance with the application process. Business owners wishing to inquire about re-opening guidelines, mitigation protocols or grant programs should contact the First Stop Business Information Center at ceo.firststop@illinois.gov or call 800-252-2923. Residents may also use the SBDC locator at https://viewer.blipstar.com/blipstar?uid=5161672 if they wish to contact their nearest SBDC directly.

“In order for our economy to recover from the COVID-19 crisis we have to support the small businesses of our communities,” Moylan said. “They are the backbone of our economy and must be able to continue providing jobs, services and economic stimulation to communities throughout Illinois. They need resources and guidance during this public health crisis, and SBDCs will provide what they need.”

For questions concerning SBDCs, state issues, legislation or district matters, please contact Moylan’s full-time constituent office at 847-635-6821 or email StateRepMoylan@gmail.com.
