ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 55: Moylan Highlights Secretary of State Extensions; Encourages Residents to Use Online Services

55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on Sept. 29

In an effort to maintain social distancing at driver services facilities, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is emphasizing the Secretary of State’s extension of driver’s license and identification card renewal dates and is recommending that residents take advantage of online services.

“During this pandemic it is crucial to avoid any large gatherings, so extending the deadlines for license renewal will help prevent the transmission of COVID-19,” Moylan said. “The number one priority has always been and continues to be the health and safety of the public, so if residents are able, please take advantage of the online services offered by the Secretary of State’s office.”

The office of the Illinois Secretary of State recently extended the renewal dates for driver’s licenses and identification cards until Feb. 1, 2021. This means that expired licenses and identification cards will remain valid until Feb. 1, 2021. It is recommended that the public take advantage of the online services offered at https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/ if they are able. This will help maintain a safe environment at driver services facilities and help residents avoid any waiting in line.

“While it certainly has been a long year dealing with this health crisis, the threat has not gone away and I am appreciative that Jesse White’s office continues to prioritize safety,” Moylan said. “We have to continue social distancing when possible and avoid any unnecessary gatherings in order to contain the virus and keep residents safe.”
