Glencoe FD responds to 20 fires in 2018

Glencoe Fire District responded to 376 calls in 2018 - 60 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Glencoe included 20 fires - 15 structure fires, one vehicle fire and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $35,450 in fire loss - or about $1,773 per fire.

The department also received 356 false calls, including two malicious calls and 354 other false calls.

The Glencoe Firefighters Pension Fund, which has active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $44,375 in debt as of February 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,698 for every fire in 2017.
