Park Ridge FD responds to 41 fires in 2018

Park Ridge Fire District responded to 685 calls in 2018 - 2.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Park Ridge included 41 fires - nine structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 23 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $455,650 in fire loss - or about $11,113 per fire.

The department also received 641 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 633 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The Park Ridge Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 48 active employees and 53 retired or inactive employees, was $1,013,237 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $24,125 for every fire in 2017.
