ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 55: Moylan Recommends New Virtual Care Program for Residents Experiencing COVID-19 Symptoms

55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on July 16

State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is recommending taking advantage of the Illinois COVID-19 Virtual Care Program to any resident who is experiencing moderate symptoms of COVID-19.

“This program will be of great benefit and help those experiencing symptoms to monitor their condition while self-isolating and help contain the spread of COVID-19,” Moylan said. “Those who need urgent care should get it immediately, but virtual care will also help all of the terrific medical workers who have worked throughout this pandemic. This program will help ensure that hospitals will not be overwhelmed while also making sure everyone in isolation has everything they need to carefully monitor their condition.”

The Illinois COVID-19 Virtual Care Program is available to all Illinois residents with no consideration of the health coverage they have. The program is for those who are experiencing mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms who do not require urgent care or hospitalization. Through the program, patients will receive remote patient monitoring and daily virtual check-ups. Some patients will also be sent wellness kits which include thermometers, pulse oximeters, blood pressure cuffs, alcohol wipes and face masks. Additionally, the program will help connect patients to items and services they require while in self-isolation such as food, housing, transportation and more. Residents in northern Illinois can find their virtual care provider by texting CARE with your Illinois zip code to 36363 or calling the virtual care hotline at 866-443-2584.

“This program is going to increase access to important medical resources for residents who may have been exposed to the virus, which is crucial to containing the spread of COVID-19,” Moylan said. “We need to provide sufficient health care swiftly and safely, and virtual care will greatly help accomplish that.”
