Village of Wheeling President and Board of Trustees met June 1.

A. Resolution 20-070 Authorizing the Village President and Village Clerk to Execute an Agreement in the Amount of $42,972 between the Village of Wheeling and Chicago's North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau [Relative to the Village's Membership in the Bureau]
Deputy Clerk Henneberry read the legislation title into the record. Manager Sfondilis introduced the item.
Executive Director Gina Speckman delivered a brief presentation and answered questions from the Board. Ms. Speckman read a letter of support from Aaron M. Bastable, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Westin hotel.
Motion by Ray Lang, second by Joe Vito.

B. Ordinance 5341 Approving Temporary Outdoor Seating for Food and Beverage Consumption Deputy Clerk Henneberry read the legislation title into the record.
Manager Sfondilis reviewed the ordinance which ratifies changes that became effective May 29, 2020, so businesses can open under the new guidelines. Manager Sfondilis stated that we currently have 14 restaurants that have registered, been inspected and were approved to open, and answered questions from the Board.
Trustee Vito asked Deputy Police Chief Joseph Licari if there were any incidents over the weekend related to this subject; DC Licari stated there were not.
Trustee Papantos thanked staff for preparing the guidelines so quickly.
Manager Sfondilis read the list of businesses currently open (with limitations) and noted that Eggsperience will open later this week.
Trustees Vito and Ruffatto encouraged patience while visiting restaurants as staff and customers are dealing with a lot of changes.
Manager Sfondilis thanked the Board, staff, and Village Attorney's for making sure this got out in an expedited manner.

14. Official Communications
Trustee Papantos expressed sympathy to the family of Sheila Schultz, and stated that Wheeling has lost a great leader.
Trustee Krueger offered condolences to the family of Sheila Schultz, commented on the previous discussion related to opening the Village, and thanked Manager Sfondilis and staff, for working on opening safely, and wished everyone health and wellness.
President Horcher complimented the level of preparedness displayed by the Police Department during this uncertain time.
15. Approval of Bills
Approval of Bills for May 14 – May 27, 2020, in the amount of $890,942.84¢ Motion by Joe Vito, second by Mary Papantos to approve Bills as presented.
