Evanston Township High School District 202 issued the following announcement on June 12.
The partnership between Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University continues to enhance learning opportunities for ETHS students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).
Recent ETHS graduates Eliana Chandra, Yuzuka Komiyama-Kasai, Jazminé Morrow, and Izadorius Tortuga will have their documentaries presented online at the Policing Surveillance: a YPRPT Documentary Series on Wednesday, June 17, at 7:00pm. The special screening will be followed by a live panel discussion with the student filmmakers. This free virtual event is organized by the Block Museum of Art. Those interested in viewing the live screening are asked to register online.
Organized by the Block Museum of Art, the documentary series is produced by students of the Young People’s Race, Power, and Technology (YPRPT) project. YPRPT is an afterschool program developed in partnership with community organizations, including the Northwestern/ETHS Partnership Office and Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy. The focus is to bring students and community members together to jointly investigate the ethical and social dimensions of specific law enforcement technologies such as facial recognition and gang databases.

“Targeted” (filmmakers: David Lewis, Jessica Rodriguez, Izadorius Tortuga)
“Racial Recognition” (filmmakers: Yuzuka Komiyama-Kasai, Gregory Voelkel)
“Melting Ice” (filmmakers: Eliana Chandra and Jazminé Morrow)
