CITY OF EVANSTON: Waste Transfer Station Air Quality Study Report Now Available

Local gov stock 01

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on June 9.

The City of Evanston has posted a report summarizing data collected from a six-month air quality study for the area surrounding the Church Street Waste Transfer Station, located at 1711 Church St.

In 2019, the City hired RHP Risk Management to conduct the study, which included the collection of data from four air quality stations, a traffic evaluation and a weather station. The City has created a web page, cityofevanston.org/transferstation, with all of the information from the study, including:

  1. Executive Summary
  2. Conclusions and Recommendations
  3. Full Study Report without appendices (36 pages)
  4. Full Study Report with appendices (1,018 pages)
  5. Raw and Prepared Data
The air quality study was completed in December 2019; however, due to the time required to organize and analyze such a large data set (over 12 million data points) and staff resources diverted to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of the final report and data collected was delayed.

The City will hold a final community meeting so that residents can share comments, concerns and questions with the consultant and City staff. The City will announce when this meeting has been scheduled.
