NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 225: GBN Kids 4 the Cure Club spreads kindness

Hs 08

Northfield Township High School District 225 issued the following announcement on Feb. 3.

At its meeting on January 27, the D225 Board of Education recognized the GBN Kids 4 the Cure Club, known for its efforts to raise cancer awareness. The students are driven by their desire to make a difference in the lives of families that face cancer.

This winter, the club partnered with Special Spaces, a national non-profit organization that remodels the bedrooms of children with cancer. The GBN Kids 4 the Cure Club learned of a nearby teen who was returning home after undergoing treatment for leukemia. The club members spent several months planning and fundraising.

After the renovation was complete, the students had the opportunity to witness the reaction of the teen and her family upon seeing her new bedroom. The club leaders shared that the moment was highly emotional and that seeing the impact of their hard work and dedication was worth all of their collective efforts. The club managed to fundraise so successfully that her little brother's bedroom was redesigned, as well.

Through this Glenbrook Story, we observe the GBN school mission coming alive through students’ dedication to community service, and above all, kindness.
