4614338662

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Feb. 3.

The City of Evanston is hosting a 3rd grade art contest in celebration of National Drinking Water Week (NDWW), which is May 3-9, 2020. The purpose of NDWW is to celebrate water as our most precious natural resource. This year's theme is "There when you need it."

3rd grade students are invited to showcase their ideas of what “There when you need it” means to them. Art submissions should fit on an 8.5-inch by 11-inch piece of paper or smaller. Hard copies of submissions should be dropped off or mailed to the Evanston Water Production Bureau, 555 Lincoln St., Evanston, IL 60201 by Thursday, March 5 at 4 p.m. Submissions can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please include the student's full name, school, classroom number, and teacher’s name on the back of artwork.

Online voting to determine the People's Choice Award winner will be held March 16 through April 6. Mayor's Choice and Water Spirit Awards will also be awarded.

Winners will be announced at the Administration & Public Works Committee Meeting of the Evanston City Council on April 27. Awards will include Evanston beach tokens for the 2020 summer, a plaque recognizing their achievement, and a chance to have their artwork displayed at the main Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., during Drinking Water Week.

Additional activities for National Drinking Water Week, including tours of Evanston’s Water Treatment Plant, will be announced in March.
