EVANSTON-SKOKIE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 65: Happy Holidays from District 65!

Parade

Evanston-Skokie Community Consolidated School District 65 recently issued the following announcement.

Dear District 65 Community -

With winter break nearly here, we would like to express our gratitude for allowing us to be a part of this very special community of learners. The care and dedication that is shown by educators to our students and families is second-to-none. They help students to flourish academically, provide a safe and clean environment, welcome visitors, nourish our students, and work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of our students and families. As we continue through this holiday season, I hope that you will join us in expressing your appreciation.

With many years of experience in education in various school districts, we have never seen a district so deeply committed to equity, improving outcomes for Black and LatinX students, and to closing the opportunity gaps that have been perpetuated by our system. Our team developed a very focused set of priorities this spring to impact academic outcomes for students of color. We are collaborating with our educators and school leaders on this important work. We are proud of our educators, administrators, and support staff and encourage you to learn more about the progress that has been made thus far.

While on winter break, we encourage our students and families to engage in the learning resources we have available in District 65! Using their Clever login, students can access a variety of online resources. These resources are personalized to each student’s needs through their login. Students can access thousands of books and articles through literacy databases including BrainPop, BrainPop Jr, BrainPop ESL, IStation, and Newsela. In addition, students can sharpen their skills through ST Math, ConnectEd (Every Day Math), TypeTastic, and EL3.

In District 65, making a difference in the lives of all students is an opportunity and a mission that we all share. Best wishes to your family for a restful, joyous, and relaxing winter break. We look forward to continuing our important work in the new year!

Yours truly,

Phil Ehrhardt and Heidi Wennstrom

Interim Superintendents of Schools
