Serve Illinois in Springfield is now offering AmeriCorps grant funding across the state to organizations administering the group’s programming.
With the help of the funding, AmeriCorps members are placed in communities throughout Illinois as part of an effort to improve educational programming, support economic growth, ensure healthy futures, safeguard the environment, provide disaster relief and serve veterans and military families through civic engagement.
“The AmeriCorps programs have and will continue to provide great benefit to communities all around Illinois,” Serve Illinois Commissioner Char Foss-Eggemann said in a press release. “Please apply for a grant if you see an opportunity to improve your community.”
Institutions of higher education, local and state government entities and nonprofit organizations are all eligible to apply. Last year, Serve Illinois AmeriCorps dished out more than $100 million in grants across the state serving almost 400,000 individuals, with the Serve Illinois Commission overseeing all the necessary steps.
Applications for this year’s grants are due by November 17 and funding is slated to commence in July or August of 2020.
