City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.
The City of Evanston has been awarded a $700,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation's local Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) for intersection improvements along Ridge Avenue.
This funding will allow the City to complete a traffic flow and safety operations improvement project at seven intersections along Ridge Avenue, including:
- Ridge Avenue and Oakton Street
- Ridge Avenue and Main Street
- Ridge Avenue and Greenleaf Street
- Ridge Avenue and Dempster Street
- Ridge Avenue and Lake Street
- Ridge Avenue and Davis Street
- Ridge Avenue and Church Street
Ridge Avenue is a major north to south arterial road that extends through the City of Evanston and connects the City of Chicago and the North Shore communities. Within the project limits, the Ridge Avenue corridor includes schools, religious institutions, residences, and Northwestern University facilities.
