Illinois state Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is set to fete Golden Apple Award winners and other school volunteers from her 47th District at an upcoming recognition breakfast in Oak Brook Terrace.

The two-hour event is scheduled for Sept. 21, at Drury Lane starting at 9 a.m.

“As a schoolteacher’s daughter, I witnessed firsthand how dedicated teachers create a learning environment that helps students reach their potential and thrive,” Mazzochi said in a press release. “Great teachers, who go above and beyond to establish meaningful connections with students, are worthy of our highest praise. They are among the key influencers that help make our communities a destination for families seeking an excellent education for their children. This breakfast to recognize our local Golden Apple winners is just one small way I can show my appreciation for their dedication and hard work.”

A total of seven teachers from the district are to receive Golden Apple Awards this year. Mazzochi is quick to point out countless others in the community have also gone above and beyond in order to keep area schools running smoothly.

“From our PTA officers to the room mothers to the book fair volunteers – these individuals give selflessly of their time and talents,” she added. “They add critical value to our children’s school experience in so many ways, and they rarely receive the recognition they deserve. This event is our way of saying we appreciate their efforts.”

Those wishing to attend the event can call Mazzochi’s office at 630-852-8633 or visit the event link online

Still in her first term in Springfield, Mazzochi serves on such committees as Environment, Judiciary, Civil, Health & Healthcare Disparities and Mental Health.

Her 47th District includes all or parts of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace, Western Springs, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Westmont and Downers Grove.
