SCHAUMBURG PARK DISTRICT: Firefly Fandango lights up Spring Valley

Nature

Schaumburg Park District issued the following announcement on July 3.

Witness one of nature’s marvels as the summer sun sets on Spring Valley’s prairies and woods.

Firefly Fandango is set for 8:45 to 9:45 p.m., July 13 and 14 at the Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. Families will be taken on a twilight wagon ride to view the light show seen on mid-summer evenings. Other activities will include a short discussion about fireflies and how they produce their fascinating light.

"The amount of fireflies seen at Spring Valley is unbelievable and something I enjoy witnessing year after year," said Mary Rice, education coordinator for Spring Valley. "Viewing the fireflies at this event is a more exciting experience than in my own backyard. I am still amazed how many fireflies can be seen at once!”

Cost is $4 per person for residents and $5 per person for non-residents. Beverages will be served. Registration is required. Day-of registration is available until noon, July 13 and 14.

Register for Saturday, July 13 and/or Sunday, July 14. For more information, call 847-985-2100.
