Former state school employee Tomasik Kelly paid in $213K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $4.32M in retirement

Former state school employee Bernadette Tomasik Kelly, who retired in June 2018, saved $213,279 toward a pension over 37 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Tomasik Kelly would collect as much as $4.32 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.

The projection assumes Tomasik Kelly received $90,726 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Tomasik Kelly will have already received $280,425 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
