Former state school employee Giannasi Wendricks paid in $115K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $2.11M in retirement

Former state school employee Betty Giannasi Wendricks, who retired in June 2018, saved $114,852 toward a pension over 19 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Giannasi Wendricks would collect as much as $2.11 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.

The projection assumes Giannasi Wendricks received $44,406 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Giannasi Wendricks will have already received $137,254 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
