Northbrook Elementary School District 27 recently issued the following announcement.

The Wood Oaks Wind Ensemble has once again been chosen to perform at the University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival in May.

This is the 10th time in the past 12 years the Wind Ensemble has received the honor. They are one of nine middle schools in the state chosen to perform.

Selection to perform at SuperState is universally regarded as the highest honor amongst Illinois band directors. Dozens of schools apply to perform each year with just a small number accepted. The livestream of the performance can be viewed at: https://www.bands.illinois.edu/superstate-0.

Adjudicators for the 2019 SuperState are: Marcellus Brown, Director of Bands, Boise State University; Tom Caneva, Director of Bands, Ball State University; Richard Clary, Senior Wind Conductor, Florida State University; and Mary Schneider, Director of Bands, Eastern Michigan University.

The Wind Ensemble will perform at 11:15 a.m. May 3rd at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois in Champaign.

Congratulations to all our students and band director Wayne Gordon!
