The price of local government in 2017: City of Rolling Meadows

The City of Rolling Meadows budget was $78.30 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $9,838 per household.

That's an increase of 1.6 percent from 2016, when the city spent $77.04 million, or $9,679 per household.

Rolling Meadows has 7,959 households and a population of 24,639.

Since 2001, the City of Rolling Meadows budget has grown by 52.6 percent, from $51.30 million. The city population has grown 0.1 percent over the same period, from 24,604.

Salaries accounted for 22.3 percent of city spending in 2017. Rolling Meadows property taxpayers paid $17.45 million for 159 full-time employees and 20 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 218 full-time employees and 71 part-time employees, and spent $19.85 million.
