City of Evanston issued the following announcement on March 22.

In honor of 2019 National Drinking Water Week (NDWW), May 5-11, the City is hosting an art contest for 3rd grade students in Evanston to celebrate the contest's theme, "Protect the Source." The purpose of NDWW is to celebrate water by recognizing the essential role it plays in our daily lives.

Through Friday, April 5, community members are encouraged to cast their vote online at surveymonkey.com/r/ndww2019 to determine this year’s People's Choice Award winner. All votes must be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 5.

The winners of the contest will be invited to attend the announcement and presentation of the awards at the Administration & Public Works Committee Meeting on Monday, April 22. Mayor's Choice Award and Water Spirit Award winners will also be announced during the meeting. Awards will include Evanston beach tokens for the 2019 summer, a plaque recognizing their achievement, and a chance to have their artwork displayed at the main Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., during Drinking Water Week.

For more information about NDWW, visit cityofevanston.org/drinkingwaterweek or call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 3-1-1 in Evanston.
