The price of local government in 2016: Village of Oak Lawn

The Village of Oak Lawn budget was $56.24 million for its 2016 fiscal year, or $2,486 per household.

That's a decrease of 6.8 percent from 2015, when the village spent $60.36 million, or $2,668 per household.

Oak Lawn has 22,623 households and a population of 56,690.

Since 2001, the Village of Oak Lawn budget has fallen by 50.5 percent, from $113.51 million. The village population has grown 0.9 percent over the same period, from 56,182.

Salaries accounted for 57 percent of village spending in 2016. Oak Lawn property taxpayers paid $32.03 million for 299 full-time employees and 82 part-time employees.
