Sports2

Schaumburg Park District issued the following announcement on March 1.

Try your luck at Schaumburg Park District’s Shamrock Pickleball Tournament.

Players ages 50 and older are invited to the tournament, set for noon to 4 p.m., March 9 at The Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road.

Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced sport played with a paddle that combines the skills used in tennis, racquetball and ping-pong.

The format of the tournament will be round robin, with eight players in a bracket and seven games guaranteed. Winners will be determined by the total points scored in each bracket.

“This tournament is a great way to get exercise and engage in a friendly competition,” said Karen Shannon, The Sport Center manager. “In addition to this tournament, we also host an Adult Pickleball Drop-in Program at The Sport Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.”

Register at The Sport Center or online at parkfun.com. Registration deadline is March 1.
