Evanston Township High School District 202 recently issued the following announcement.
The Evanston Township High School Chess team had a strong performance at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Tournament in February 2019. The team, seeded 16th, won five out of seven matches and finished in a tie for 8th place among the 128 qualifying schools.
ETHS senior Nick Marcotte earned state recognition for an outstanding performance, and ETHS senior Julian Liam O'Carroll, junior Alex Fogel and sophomore Alan Wang were among the top performers during this year’s competition. Isabella Buitrago, Bella Cline, Jennifer Donovan, Jonah Doppelt, Nicklas Kanzok, Dhruva Mohnalkar, and Simon Wesenberg also contributed to the team's overall success.
