City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Feb. 12.
The City of Evanston’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for Fiscal Year 2017 has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report provides a detailed presentation of the City’s finances in accordance with the financial reporting principles and standards set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). It is prepared each year by the City’s Finance Division.
An impartial panel judged the City’s CAFR as meeting the program’s high standards, which include demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the City's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
