State Senate race: Democrat Gillespie wins voter tally in Elk Grove Township Precinct 5

Ann Gillespie led Republican Tom Rooney in votes cast in Elk Grove Township Precinct 5 for the District 27 state Senate race, according to the latest vote count.

Gillespie appeared to outpace Rooney by a margin of 14.1 percent on Tuesday in the precinct.
