SCHAUMBURG PARK DISTRICT: Be in front of the camera with unique volunteer opportunity

Camera(1000)

Schaumburg Park District issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.

Direct, film and produce compelling segments as a volunteer for the Schaumburg Heartbeat cable TV show.

Volunteers are wanted for Schaumburg Heartbeat, a cable show that gives older adults the opportunity to share stories and provide valuable information to the community.

“Heartbeat is a great opportunity for older adults who would like to report, do videotaping and give back to the community,” said Justin Sienkiewicz, director of communication and marketing. “Our volunteers interact with the community and interview people with educational, inspiring, and captivating stories.”

Segments include recreation opportunities, health topics, community resources and human interest stories. Training is provided on filming techniques and using the District’s video equipment.

“Producing a segment that helps educate the community and seeing it on TV is very rewarding,” said Sienkiewicz. “The best part is that you don’t have to be an expert. We teach you how to use the video cameras and how to develop the storyline. So whether you love being in front of the camera, or enjoy working behind the scenes, we’ll find a place for you.”

The show airs monthly on the District’s cable channels including Comcast 15, WOW 14 and AT&T 99. Planning meetings are scheduled the third Thursday of every month at the Jerry Handlon Administration Building, 235 E. Beech Drive, Schaumburg.
