Maine South senior running back Jake Bellizzi leads team to conference championship

Maine South senior running back/linebacker Jake Bellizzi was recently named Chicago Bears “High School All-Star” for Week 9.

ISHA.org reports Bellizzi led Maine South (9-1) past Central Suburban League rival Deerfield 32-0 on Oct. 19, earning the school its first outright conference championship and its first eight-win year since the program’s inaugural season.

On the year, Bellizzi has rushed for more than 1,400 yards.

Victors of seven in a row by an average margin-of-victory of nearly 32 points, Maine South closes the regular season by traveling to Aurora to face Waubonsie Valley.

The team’s only loss came in a Week 3 nail-biting 26-23 loss at Barrington.
