With just days remaining before voters go to the polls, Barrett Davie is intent on fighting off distortions to his record.

“Thank you Chicago Tribune for calling out my opponent and her allies for their brazen lies and ‘whoppers,’" Davie, who is running against Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) for the 29th Senate District seat, recently posted on Facebook in response to a negative campaign ad blasting him for his purported stance against abortion. “While I respect the opinions of those who disagree with me, I have been very clear from the beginning of this campaign that I will protect a woman's right to choose.”

Davie's campaign has been picking up speed and his platform message of a balanced budget and greater fiscal responsibility is resonating with voters, he said recently.

Rep. Julie Morrison

“Unlike my opponent, I will also work to reform Illinois’ broken financial situation and prevent (House Speaker Mike) Madigan and Morrison from ever more grabs for your hard-earned paychecks,” he said.

The 29th district includes Cook and Lake County.
