Retired Schaumburg CCSD 54 employee Janet Lundeberg saved $132,950 toward her pension over 23 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Lundeberg would collect as much as $3.774 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.
Lundeberg, 60, who currently lives in Schaumburg, earned $118,960 in her final year at Schaumburg CCSD 54.
The projection assumes Lundeberg will receive 49.2 percent of that total - $58,491 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Lundeberg will have already received $180,789 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 59.9 percent of Schaumburg CCSD 54 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
