Retired West Northfield SD 31 employee Marisa Bergamasco saved $50,920 toward her pension over 19 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Bergamasco would collect as much as $2.225 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.
Bergamasco, 60, who currently lives in Barrington earned $52,750 in her final year at West Northfield SD 31.
The projection assumes Bergamasco will receive 65.4 percent of that total - $34,489 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Bergamasco will have already received $106,602 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 53.8 percent of West Northfield SD 31 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
