City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.
As autumn leaves begin to fall, the City of Evanston is reminding residents of the City’s leaf blowing ordinance as well as information regarding yard waste pick-up.
Leaf Blowing
Backpack-mounted and hand-held gasoline-powered leaf blowers are allowed by the City for use only between March 30 and May 15 and between September 30 and the first Thursday of December, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Blowing or raking leaves into the street can cause flooding or block sewers and is prohibited.
Yard Waste
Residents can dispose of yard waste in paper yard waste bags affixed with a City of Evanston yard waste sticker, or using a City of Evanston reusable food and yard waste cart. Weekly yard waste collection will continue on residents’ regular trash collection day through Thursday, December 13.
