Maine Township High School District 207 students suspended 155 times in a single school year

Maine Township High School District 207 reported 155 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 155 students during the year. That equates to 2.4 percent of the 6,352 students enrolled.

Of the 155 out-of-school suspensions, 119 were given to boys and 36 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for drugs. The category includes 43 incidents. There were 42 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 62 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
