Community Consolidated School District 62 students suspended 19 times in a single school year

Community Consolidated School District 62 reported 19 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 19 students during the year. That equates to 0.4 percent of the 4,693 students enrolled.

Of the 16 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. The category includes five incidents. There were five incidents of unspecified reasons. For 12 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes three incidents. For one incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
