Ridgewood Community High School District 234 students suspended 52 times in a single school year

Ridgewood Community High School District 234 reported 52 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 52 students during the year. That equates to 6.1 percent of the 847 students enrolled.

Of the 11 in-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. For 11 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 41 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 20 incidents. There were 15 incidents of unspecified reasons. For 19 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
