City of Evanston issued the following announcement on July 31.

Tickets are now on sale for "Crowns," by Regina Taylor, the third and final play of Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's (FJT) 2018 Summertime Season. Performances will take place August 11 through 26 on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., in Evanston. The August 11 performance is sold out.

"Crowns" is a rich and beautiful gospel musical that reveals the story of African American women and the hats they wear to church. Each hat holds a story of a wedding, a funeral and a baptism as the women share stories of how they moved through life’s struggles. Audiences will be inspired by this stirring musical experience.

Tickets are $15 in advance online at fjtheatre.com and at Evanston recreation community centers. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the performance day for $25. Seniors and students with ID can purchase tickets at a discounted price of $15 at the door only.

FJT's Summertime Season features three plays and two concerts, as well as an end-of-season Wine & Dine Gala. Community members can enjoy admission to the remaining play and two concerts, along with other specials announced during the season, by purchasing a Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre Premium Gold Member Card for $65. Season details and Premium Gold Member Cards are available at fjtheatre.com.
