How much has East Prairie SD 73 overspent over the past 10 years?

East Prairie School District 73 accumulated $936,169 in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a North Cook News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, East Prairie SD 73 reported 35.9 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 33.2 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 97.5 percent from 2008 to 2017.
