How much has Mount Prospect SD 57 overspent over the past 10 years?

Mount Prospect School District 57 accumulated $14.10 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a North Cook News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Mount Prospect SD 57 reported 12.9 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went down 3.6 percent. The resulting deficit shrunk by 77.3 percent from 2008 to 2017.
