Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 2.

Elgin Community College is offering two new certificate programs this fall – Personal Training and Spanish for Medical Personnel.

The Personal Training certificate is a 10 credit-hour program that can be completed in 16 weeks (one semester). Classes are conveniently scheduled Monday through Thursday during the late afternoon hours. The program prepares students to safely and effectively train clients and be ready to obtain certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

The Spanish for Medical Personnel certificate is a six credit-hour, fully online program that can also be completed in 16-weeks (one semester). Designed for current medical professionals or those planning to enter the medical field, students will learn the basic grammar and vocabulary needed to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients in a medical setting.

Both programs are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Interested students should complete a free online application at elgin.edu/apply. Be sure to select ‘Personal Training’ or ‘Spanish for Medical (Basic)’ when applying. Classes start August 20.
