Buffalo Grove Police Department issued the following announcement on June 29.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department is proud to announce it will be joining members of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, the Northwest Central Dispatch and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to celebrate the first-ever 'First Responders Day'.

This event will take place on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Buffalo Grove Farmers’ Market located at Mike Rylko Park, 951 McHenry Road, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and will provide residents with valuable information about public safety, while allowing children the opportunity to explore a number of different emergency response vehicles.

“We hope this will be a great event for all involved. Many children can become apprehensive around police and firefighters, and this gives us the opportunity to engage with them in a friendly, relaxed environment,” said Buffalo Grove Community Relations Officer Matthew Mills. “It will also give adults the opportunity to ask questions regarding the 911 system, learn about CERT and how to get involved, and learn more about services provided by the Buffalo Grove Police and Fire departments. We have many safety and security programs available to Buffalo Grove residents that people are unaware of, and events like this help us to promote those programs.”

The Buffalo Grove Farmers’ Market will have their usual assortment of vendors at the market during this event.
