GLENVIEW COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 34: Welcomes New Leadership to Curriculum Department

Glenview Community Consolidated School District 34 recently issued the following announcement.

At Monday’s Board of Education meeting, Dr. Matt Silverman was approved to be the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction, and Raquel Kim was approved as the Director of EL & Bilingual Programs. Both individuals will officially start with District 34 on July 1, 2018.

Dr. Silverman joins District 34 from River Trails District 26 where he has served in a similar position since July 2007. Prior to working in River Trails he was the Director of Curriculum and Instruction as well as a principal in Beach Park District 3. He also served as an interim principal and assistant principal in Carpentersville District 300. Dr. Silverman has a Bachelors in Music Education from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a Masters in Education from University of Illinois-Chicago and a Doctoral Degree from National Louis University.

Dr. Delli had the following comments to share about the hiring of Dr. Silverman:

“Dr. Silverman is a highly passionate administrator who clearly demonstrated his dedication to putting children first in all decisions during the interviewing process. It is clear he has the experience, dedication and leadership abilities necessary to provide for continuous improvement in the areas of teaching and learning.”

Kim joins District 34 from Community Consolidated School District 21 in Wheeling where she has served as a principal since 2016. Prior to moving into her principalship, she was the Title I/Title III Coordinator for three years. She also worked in the School of Dual Language in Hawthorne District 73 as both a resource consultant for K-5 and fourth grade dual language teacher. She is fluent in Spanish and also can understand Korean.

Kim has a Bachelors of Arts from Knox College, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University and a Masters in Education from Loyola University Chicago.

Dr. Delli had the following comments to share about the hiring of Kim:

“Kim is an excellent administrator who clearly communicated the importance of developing a relationship with all stakeholders and keeping the needs of students at the heart of discussions and decision-making. She is not only an experienced professional but a true advocate and champion for children.”
