Des Plaines FD responds to 145 fires in 2017

Des Plaines Fire Department responded to 1047 calls in 2017 - 6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Des Plaines included 145 fires - 81 structure fires, 18 vehicle fires and 46 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,288,085 in fire loss - or about $8,883 per fire.

The department also received 899 false calls, including 18 malicious calls and 881 other false calls.

The calls resulted in seven civilian fire-related injuries.
