CITY OF EVANSTON: FJT Summertime Season Begins June 16

Theatre 1000x667

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on June 11.

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre (FJT) will kick off its 2018 Summertime Season with "From the Mississippi Delta," by Endesha Ida Mae Holland, Ph.D. Performances will take place June 16 through July 1 on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., in Evanston.

"From the Mississippi Delta" is a dramatic autobiographical play that captures the story of a young girl growing up in the 1950s in an impoverished Southern community and battling against the harsh realities of that era. The play follows her as she courageously fights her way to personal, spiritual and professional triumph. This inspiring production with live music will reaffirm that self-determination, love and faith can conquer the most insurmountable odds.

Tickets are $15 in advance online at fjtheatre.com and at Evanston recreation community centers. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the performance day for $25. Seniors and students with ID can purchase tickets at a discounted price of $15 at the door only.

FJT's Summertime Season will feature three plays and two concerts, as well as an end-of-season Wine & Dine Gala. Community members can enjoy admission to three plays and two concerts, along with other specials announced during the season, by purchasing a Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre Premium Gold Member Card for $65. Season details and Premium Gold Member Cards are available at fjtheatre.com.
