Barrett Davie still believes in all he thinks the state of Illinois has to offer.

Davie, who is running against state Sen. Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) in Senate District 29 in November’s general election, recently reflected on all he thinks the state could still be in his latest “it starts right here” video posted to Facebook.

“We have so many advantages here in Illinois," he wrote. "Let's enable job creators and their workers to create more economy and prosperity."

Marko Sukovic

In another video posted on the Barrett Davie for Illinois Facebook page, Davie also posts a video of Marko Sukovic endorsing his candidacy.

“I’m helping out with Barrett Davie for the state senate campaign,” Sukovic, who previously ran as a Republican in the 59th District, said. “Illinois is at a turning point, and I’m helping him out because so many of my friends and neighbors, they’re leaving the state of Illinois. We need some people that are going to go down there not afraid to talk to Republicans, Democrats, independents and just get some big things done. I’m excited to help him out and I hope you can too.”

Davie has previously asserted he believes the key to turning the state around lies in lawmakers being willing to institute meaningful reforms that are mindful of all the state’s many frustrated taxpayers.

“The most important thing our political leaders can do is to begin to be honest with themselves and their constituents about the magnitude of our state's fiscal problems,” Davie told the North Cook News. “There will be no quick fixes, but businesses are looking to see that Illinois leaders are willing to acknowledge our challenges and are willing to work together to achieve meaningful reforms now.”
